Excited to be facing the July 2012 meeting. The more I circumbulate this event, the more convinced I am that my preparation will outline my personal discipline for the next seven months. I want to learn:

We have guidance from the results of the last General Chapter as they gave guidelines in their planning. I believe if we keep these elements in mind, we can have an effective beginning as a new province. As we discuss and plan our desired future as the new Moreau Province, let us keep these elements in mind. Even though these elements were considered in planning as a congregation, I believe they can apply to us as a province. How can our decisions help to advance the congregation as a whole into a preferred future?
ReplyDeleteFundamental Guiding Perspectives and Principles:
i. Choose ministerial commitments from the perspective of the Congregation as
a whole; (How will our new Province "community and ministry" do this?
ii. Entrust congregation-level leadership with appropriate authority; (We are not independent agents as a Province, but part of a global congregation.)
iii. Ensure that, insofar as possible, the charism of priests and brothers living and
working together in an indivisible brotherhood is reflected on each level and
present in every sector;
iv. Foster an awareness that our identity, while lived locally, is principally
congregational; (How can we live better as local communities?)
v. Ensure that apostolic and common-life needs for mission, formation, and care
of elderly religious of every sector will be given appropriate consideration.
Intended Blessings and Benefits:
i. A truly international vision of our life and mission; (will our decisions reflect and make us feel a part of the greater congregational mission?)
ii. A renewal of our founding missionary spirit;
iii. An authentic renewal of our religious life as apostolic religious;
iv. A greater fidelity to Moreau’s vision of our indivisible brotherhood of brothers
and priests working together;
v. A greater awareness and appreciation of the various cultures that shape the
lives of the religious of Holy Cross; (even within our own Province and the people involved in our current ministries)
vi. A deeper sharing of the communion of life we share so that it will be a sign in
an alienated world of the possibility of authentic relationships rooted in a
vision of God’s preferential love for the poor and afflicted.
